London Olympic Games in 2012.
"The various swimming events were spectacular for the thrill
and excitement they provided, but also for the venue in which
they took place, which was no less spectacular.
I wanted to create the 'excitement of anticipation' - to capture
the intricate detail of the ripples and distortions in the surface texture of the water - to create the scene of the impending
battle from the competitors point of view - to imagine the silence
just before the start, and then the cacophony of noise, as thousands of spectators cheer on their chosen heros competing
in the most important race of their lives."
